Regeneration
Rebuilding the Body and Organs
with Stem Cells

Regeneration (in biology) an organism is said to regenerate a lost part, if a substitute for the loss grows from the rest of the organism, and the substitute is a copy or almost a copy of the old lost part.

Rebuilding a lost limb occurs in two major steps, first de-differentiation of adult cells into a stem cell state similar to embryonic cells and second, development of these cells into new tissue more or less the same way it developed the first time

Advancements in Medicine 3:40 (mins)
This video describes the advancements in use of cord blood stem cells as a possible treatment for over 70 diseases. It provides a review of applications in rebuilding damaged organs or creating living tissue, including diabetes and heart disease.

Rebuild body parts (finger tip) 4 mins.
A scientist show how stem cells rebuilt the end of his finger that was cut off from a propeller of a model plane. Gives rise to the theory that whole limbs could possibly be grown back.

Growing organs for Transplant 4 mins. 25 sec.
Science is now developing organs for transplant from the patients own stem cells.
